BACKGROUND
David brings a combination of strategic and operational skills acquired from working in senior positions in the public sector, running his own businesses and from consultancy, lately as a senior consultant with SQW. Recent projects covered public policy issues related to local communities, SME growth, innovation and rural development.
David holds a BSc(Hons) from the University of Wales and a Master’s in economic development from the University of British Columbia.
David has significant experience with businesses and community organisations as a director and adviser.
Strongly networked with the economic and social development community, he is a member of EDAS. He works with a small number of close associates on a ‘project by project’ basis. His business is based on Islay in the Inner Hebrides, and in Edinburgh.
David ran his own business specialising in international benchmarking, held senior roles in the Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise Networks, with responsibility for strategy development and delivery of major initiatives and projects. Prior to these appointments David was a director of an economic development consultancy working across the UK, the EU and North America.
